Review and Work done with the BMCC

Well, I didn’t do it. DP Phillip Bloom did, and a wonderful job at that. Here’s his take on the BlackMagic Cinema Camera:

Then we have have Marco Solorio from OneRiver Media and his comparison of the BMCC to the Canon 5DmIII:

Both offer some great insight into the camera. And while I think that Phillip Bloom loves ALL cameras, I get the feeling that this one isn’t at the top of his list (He like’s his C300, he makes that very clear, nothing wrong with that though). Still, it’s nice to see that even though it looked like it would be something he would bench until he had more time to ‘play’ with it, he did end up putting it through it’s paces on a project that he did for FREE, on his own time, but handled it like a paid gig:

A very beautiful piece. You can see this and all he went through on his blog HERE.

Seeing as how these two different DP’s can produce some amazing video with almost any camera they are given I should remind you (As I often must remind myself) that these are just ‘tools’ to help you craft ‘your project’.

BCMM Media Formats

I will personally be getting myself a BMCC with EOS mount. I have plenty of Canon L glass and will gladly pick up a fisheye to cover my ‘wide’ shots. However, I do have a list of firmware updates I hope BlackMagic implements soon. First and foremost, the ability to erase/format SSD drives while in the BMCC. There are other ‘needs/wants’ on the list…I hope Santa knows I’ve been a good boy and grants me those wishes.
